Muslim faithful in Rivers State has been encouraged to use the Eid-El-Maulud celebration to promote religious tolerance and peaceful co-existence in the state.
Governor Nyesom Wike made the call on Wednesday, October 28 at Port Harcourt, the state capital in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Kelvin Ebiri.
Naija News understands that the Eid-El-Maulud is celebrated to mark the birthday of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.
Governor Wike in his message to Muslim worshippers in the state ahead of the Eid-El-Maulud which will be celebrated on Thursday, October 29, assured that his administration will continue to promote religious tolerance among residents of the state.
He admonished them to imbibe the virtues of love, peace, communal living and honesty, which were qualities of the celebrated Prophet. Wike again charged them to always pray for the government and people of Rivers State, wishing them a wonderful Eid-El-Maulud.
